CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION FOR CHIEF PETTY OFFICER 
This unofficial certificate can be presented to Cadet Chief Petty Officers that are "retiring" from the NSCC Program.
CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION FOR OFFICER
This unofficial certificate can be presented to NSCC Officers and/or Instructors that are leaving the NSCC program under honorable conditions, but do not meet the criteria of retirement.
COMMAND BADGE RECOMMENDATION
Use this memorandum to nominate a Unit Commanding Officer for the Command Badge.
 
PLANK OWNER'S CERTIFICATE
This unofficial certificate can be used to recognize members of a newly commissioned NSCC Unit or NLCC Training Ship, or other "firsts" in a long standing tradition of the naval service.
RIBBON AWARD CERTIFICATES
These unofficial certificates can be used to recognize the presentation of ribbon awards. Print on pre-printed certificate paper for maximum benefit. All certificates are in MS Word™ DOC format with color logos and graphics.


NSCC


NLCC

HONOR RIBBON ***
Awarded to an NSCC Officer, Midshipman, Instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet who is directly responsible for saving a human life at the risk of his or her own life. Approval authority is the Executive Director via the Chain of Command.
NSCC DISTINGUISHED SERVICE RIBBON ***
Awarded to an NSCC Officer, Midshipman, Instructor, or NSCC Cadet who distinguishes himself/herself by extraordinary heroism but not to the degree justifying award of the NSCC Honor Ribbon, or through sustained and extraordinary service to the NSCC or NLCC in a position of responsibility. Approval authority is the Executive Director via the Chain of Command.
 

NLCC DISTINGUISHED SERVICE RIBBON ***
Awarded to an NLCC Cadet who distinguishes  himself/herself through heroic acts which contribute to the saving of human life, or to the prevention of significant damage of property; or through sustained and extraordinarily meritorious service to the NLCC in a position of great responsibility. Approval authority is the Executive Director via the Chain of Command.

 

MERITORIOUS RECOGNITION RIBBON ***
Awarded to an NSCC Officer, Midshipman, Instructor or NSCC/NLCC Cadet who distinguishes himself/herself by humanitarian action or exceptionally meritorious service to the NSCC or NLCC in a position of responsibility. Approval authority is the Executive Director via the Chain of Command, unless otherwise noted.

NSCC COMMENDATION RIBBON ***
Awarded to an NSCC Officer, Midshipman, Instructor, or NSCC Cadet who, in the opinion of the unit Commanding Officer, distinguishes himself/herself by exceptionally commendable service or action. Approval authority is the NHQ Representative, unless otherwise noted.
 

NSCC CITATION RIBBON ***
Awarded to an NSCC Officer, Midshipman, Instructor, or NSCC Cadet who, in the opinion of the unit Commanding Officer, distinguishes himself/herself by exceptionally commendable service or action. Approval authority is the NHQ Representative, unless otherwise noted.

 

ESCORT OFFICER RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC Officer, Midshipman, or Instructor who has been issued a training authorization letter designating participation as an escort for training scheduled by National Headquarters, has served in this capacity for a training evolution of not less than the authorized length, and has successfully served as an escort officer as certified by the senior escort officer or other appropriate authority. Approval authority is the Commanding Officer of the Training Contingent.

 

NLUS YOUTH MEDAL AND RIBBON **
Sponsored by the Navy League of the United States, this award enables sponsoring councils to annually recognize excellence on the part of young people participating in NSCC and NLCC programs. It serves to emphasize the importance placed on education and training of American youth and recognizes the importance of NSCC and NLCC as NLUS youth programs in attaining established goals and objectives. Approval authority is the NLUS.

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION ROTC (NSCC) MEDAL AND RIBBON **
Awarded to a graduating high school cadet who has demonstrated dependability, good character, military discipline, leadership, and a fundamental patriotic understanding of the importance of ROTC (NSCC) training. The recipient of the award will be selected and nominated to the local DAR Chapter, who will normally present the award. Approval authority is the DAR.

 

SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION BRONZE GOOD CITIZENSHIP MEDAL AND RIBBON **
Awarded to an NSCC/NLCC cadet who has attained the rate of Petty Officer Second Class or above (NSCC or NLCC) and is in good standing militarily and scholastically at the time of selection and presentation The cadet nominated must demonstrate a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing, and excellence in the performance of duties; have the potential for greater leadership responsibilities; and be recommended by the unit Commanding Officer. The recipient of the award will be selected and nominated to the local SAR Chapter, who will normally make the award. Approval authority is the SAR.

  

VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS MEDAL AND RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC cadet who has attained the rate of Petty Officer Third Class or above, or NSCC Midshipman. The recommended recipient of the award will be selected by the individual's Unit Commanding Officer and will be submitted to a local Veteran's of Foreign War Post for their consideration and approval.The award will be generally be presented by a representative of the local VFW Post. Approval authority is the VFW.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC/NLCC Cadet, Instructor, or Officer who distinguishes himself/herself by accumulating 30 hours (NSCC)/ 20 Hours (NLCC) or more of community service work. This award is for true community work, i.e. serving meals for the homeless, community clean up, work at Veteran's Homes, charity work, etc. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC/NLCC cadet who distinguish himself/herself in an academic environment. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

DRUG REDUCTION SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet who displays outstanding skills in the areas of leadership, perseverance, and courage in the community as a Drug-free role model and who has fulfilled the criteria as listed in the NSCC/NLCC Awards Manual. Approval Authority is the NHQ Representative.

 

RECRUITING INCENTIVE RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet who accrues the prerequisite points by recruiting new individuals into the NSCC/NLCC program who remain for three months or more. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

UNIT COMMENDATION RIBBON ***
Awarded to NSCC officers, midshipmen, instructors, and/or NSCC/NLCC cadets who, as a group of fifteen (15) or more, or 80% of unit members, receive recognition for acts which reflect conspicuous honor on the NSCC or NLCC or participation in community affairs.  Approval authority is the NHQ Representative.

  

PHYSICAL FITNESS RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC/NLCC cadet who distinguishes himself/herself by excelling in maintaining physical fitness standards at the National Award Level. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

PHYSICAL FITNESS RIBBON WITH "E" APPURTENANCE
Awarded to an NSCC/NLCC cadet who distinguishes himself/herself by excelling in maintaining physical fitness standards at the Presidential Award Level. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

NSCC STAFF CADET RIBBON
Awarded only to an NSCC cadet who successfully serves as "staff" cadet for NSCC/NLCC training evolutions scheduled by National Headquarters. Approval authority is the Commanding Officer Training Contingent.

 
COLOR GUARD RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC/NLCC cadet who, as a designated member of either a color guard, exhibition drill team, or ceremonial rifle squad, performs a minimum of five team evolutions meeting the requirements of the NSCC/NLCC Awards Manual. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

NSCC/NLCC SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to an NSCC officer, midshipman, instructor, or cadet who meet the following criteria: NSCC Cadet having served as an NLCC Cadet; or an NSCC Officer, Instructor or Midshipman who has served as an NSCC Cadet. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

 

NSCC/NLCC SERVICE RIBBON WITH 5/16" SILVER STAR APPURTENANCE
Awarded to an NSCC officer, midshipman, or instructor who has served as an NSCC and an NLCC Cadet. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

 

NSCC/NLCC SERVICE RIBBON WITH 5/16" GOLD STAR APPURTENANCE
Awarded to an NSCC officer, midshipman, or instructor who has served as an NSCC Chief Petty Officer. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

 

NLCC MERIT RIBBON
Awarded to an NLCC cadet who, in the opinion of the unit Commanding Officer, distinguishes himself/herself by a commendable action or service. Approval authority is the NHQ Representative.

 

MARKSMANSHIP RIBBON
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet who attains a qualifying score with pistol or rifle. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

MARKSMANSHIP RIBBON WITH SHARPSHOOTER "S" APPURTENANCE
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet who attains a qualifying score with pistol or rifle. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

MARKSMANSHIP RIBBON WITH EXPERT "E" APPURTENANCE
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet who attains a qualifying score with pistol or rifle. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

INTERNATIONAL NAVAL REVIEW/OPSAIL RIBBON
Awarded to an officer, instructor, or cadet who participated in the INR in New York City, NY, during the period 29 June - 7 July 1986, during OpSail 2000, or other approved OpSail/Fleet Week event. Approval Authority is the Executive Director via the Chain of Command.

25TH/50TH ANNIVERSARY RIBBON
Awarded to all NSCC/NLCC personnel enrolled on 10 September 1987 and/or 10 September 2012. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.
25TH/50TH ANNIVERSARY RIBBON WITH 5/16" GOLD STAR APPURTENANCE
Awarded to all NSCC/NLCC personnel enrolled on 10 September 1987 and/or 10 September 2012 who attended the anniversary ceremonies in either Washington DC or San Diego, CA. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.
25TH YEAR COMMISSIONED RIBBON
Awarded to all NSCC/NLCC personnel enrolled in a unit qualifying for a 25-year commissioning after one full year of enrollment in the unit. This is only awarded to a unit that has 25 years of continuous operation. Approval authority is the Executive Director.
25TH YEAR COMMISSIONED RIBBON 5/16" SILVER STAR APPURTENANCE
Awarded to all NSCC/NLCC personnel enrolled in a unit qualifying for a 50-year commissioning after one full year of enrollment in the unit. This is only awarded to a unit that has 50 years of continuous operation. Approval authority is the Executive Director.

YEAR RIBBON - FIFTH
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet to reflect the number of years of service in NSCC. Cadets are awarded at forty-eight months and officers at sixty months. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

 

YEAR RIBBON - FOURTH
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet to reflect the number of years of service in NSCC. Cadets are awarded at thirty-six months and officers at forty-eight months. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

YEAR RIBBON - THIRD
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet to reflect the number of years of service in NSCC. Cadets are awarded at twenty-four months and officers at thirty-six months. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

YEAR RIBBON - SECOND
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet to reflect the number of years of service in NSCC. Cadets are awarded at twelve months and officers at twenty-four months. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

YEAR RIBBON - FIRST
Awarded to an officer, midshipman, instructor, or NSCC/NLCC cadet to reflect the number of years of service in NSCC. Cadets are awarded at three months and officers at twelve months. Approval authority is the unit Commanding Officer.

APPURTENANCE AWARD CERTIFICATES

NLCC

RECRUITING "R" APPURTENANCE
Awarded to an NSCC cadet for satisfactory completion of advanced training in a Navy or Coast Guard recruiting office or station.

 

SHIPBOARD ANCHOR APPURTENANCE
Awarded to an NSCC cadet for satisfactory completion of advanced training aboard ship, amphibious operations, port operations, Special Boats or other surface warfare-type training authorized by National Headquarters.
