Event Description:
Event Notes: All cadets are to submit a completed NSCTNG 001 Request for Training Authority with payment in the form of a cashiers check or money order made payable to PCR 12 NLCC Training Contingent. If the NSCTNG 001 and payment are not received orders will NOT be approved. A Passing PRT must be completed in accordance with action letter 02-16. Magellan will enforce this requirement. All other Cadet information can be found in the Cadets section of the training website. In accordance with current NHQ Policy, units will be responsible for collecting all deposits and submitting payments with the Magellan generated invoice detailing who the payment is for. In addition to this event, Escort Officers are required to register for N5-CA-19 and Staff Cadets are to register for NX-CA-19. Once registered for this additional training, Staff must report to the training site no later than 1600 on 21 Jun 19. In accordance with the current Training and Operations Manual, Commanding Officers must screen Escort Officers and Staff Cadets to ensure the following criteria listed below. Magellan will prevent registration of individuals who do not meet these requirements: ESCORT OFFICERS a. Enrollment. The expiration date MUST exceed the ending date of the training. b. Medically and Physically Qualified. While Escort Officers are not required to submit a physical, adult staff are required to maintain a current Report of Medical History (NSCADM 002, Pages 5/6). The report should include annotations/comments accurately reflecting their current medical condition(s) or medication. Adults can and have gotten sick or injured during training. In some instances, this may require emergency room visits or hospitalization. COTCs need to know of any medical problems or special circumstances that their adult escorts might have. Keeping the Report of Medical History up to date in the personnel file is required, annually and/or within 30 days of attending training. c. Academics & Child Safety/Welfare. Without exception, the MINIMUM qualifications to serve as an Escort Officer are: 1) Completion of the Officer Midshipman Study Guide (OMSG), recorded in the Magellan Record Book. 2) Completion of OPD 101, recorded in the Magellan Record Book. 3) Completion of Darkness to Light Stewards of Children in the previous 12 months, recorded in the Magellan Record Book. 4) Acknowledgement of the USNSCC Volunteer Code of Conduct within the previous 12 months, as recorded in the Magellan Record Book. Once Commanding Officers have screened their adults, each Escort Officer must complete the Request for Training Authority NSCTNG 002 and submit it to the COTC as part of the registration process. Along with the 002, Officers must also complete and upload the Escort Officer Questionnaire. This form can be found in the Officer/Staff section of the training website. This form will help the COTC in filling billet assignments. Auxiliarists wishing to perform Escort Duty may do so, provided they meet all of the minimum requirements listed above. STAFF CADETS a. Properly enrolled. The expiration date MUST exceed the last day of the training. b. Medically and Physically Qualified. Staff Cadets must meet the minimum requirements for medical and physical qualification, as well as possessing a mature attitude and demeanor. Because Staff Cadets provide a near-peer level of guidance and mentoring, Staff Cadets must be able to lead and participate in group PT. Additionally, Commanding Officers should ensure that Staff Cadets have passed the last two PRTs. This is to ensure that our Staff Cadets are providing the best example for our NLCC Cadet trainees. c. Leadership Training. Staff Cadets WILL be graduates of NSCC Petty Officer Leadership Academy (POLA) and at least one other Advanced Training (AT). Junior Petty Officer (JPD) Course, or any other alternate, is not a substitute for POLA. d. Duties. Cadet Petty Officers Third Class or above will be assigned to staff duties involving direct supervision of trainees. Cadets in the grade of E3 will generally not be accepted for staff duty. e. Stacked/Multiple Trainings. Staff Cadets will not perform back-to-back staff duties unless authorized by NHQ. f. Rollovers. Staff Cadets WILL NOT be permitted to roll over to this duty assignment. Once Commanding Officers have screened the prospective Staff Cadet, each Staff Cadet must complete the Request for Training Authority NSCTNG 001 and submit it, along with the training deposit to the COTC as part of the registration process. Along with the 001, Staff Cadets must also complete and upload the Staff Cadet Questionnaire. This form can be found in the Officer/Staff section of the training website. This form will help the COTC in filling billet assignments.
Lodging Notes: Cadets and Staff are required to provide their own bedding. Bunks with mattresses will be provided but each attendee must bring at least a sleeping bag and pillow.
Travel Notes: Transportation to or from the local bus, air terminals, rail stations, etc will not be provided. All transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the individual attendee, their unit, and parents/guardians. If available, adult volunteers will receive mileage based on the standard $0.50 per mile rate authorized by NHQ. Mileage is paid up to a maximum of $400.
