Event Notes: The Naval Sea Cadet Corp?s Basic Medical training course is a comprehensive theory based, skills oriented course designed to educate and instruct cadets of all ages in the fundamentals of emergency medical care and basic life support. This is a practical hands-on training which will involve numerous interactive drills, exercises, and scenarios which will be made as realistic as possible through the use of moulage, props, and other teaching aids. This training will cover the fundamentals of pre-hospital emergency care including basic anatomy and physiology, patient assessments, basic life support, various medical and trauma emergencies, pharmacology, and the basics of triage and mass casualty treatment. Cadets completing this training will receive National Safety Council certification in Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support. This training is ideal for those interested in a possible career in emergency medicine, or for anyone who wants to improve upon their own medical knowledge, skills, and abilities; there is no pre-requisite for this course other than having successfully completed Recruit Training, and no prior first aid training is required in order to attend this training.
