Event Description: The objective of Orientation training is to provide a basic introduction for all navy league cadets. Orientation is required to be completed before any advanced training. Cadets receive instruction in the following areas: Chain of Command, Uniforms, Military Courtesy, USNSCC Cadet & Officer Ranks, USNSCC/USNLCC Ranks, Basic Military Drill, Barracks Living, Flag Etiquette, Basic Firefighting, and Basic Marlinspike. The mission is to provide the cadet with the confidence, teamwork, and knowledge that will build a solid foundation for continuation as a Navy League cadet and into Naval Sea Cadets.
Event Notes: Online credit card payment is now available. Details on website or money order payable to: "USNSCC, Fort Custer Training". Mail to: LCDR Jack Madsen, 5805 N. Brandon Brook Lane, Muncie, IN 47304. Include cadet name, unit, and training code on the money order. We don't need (or want) copies of ID, cadet application, immunization records, or medical paperwork uploaded to Magellan if the cadet isn't on meds or doesn't have a current medical issue.
Lodging Notes: Fort Custer Training is hosted at Fort Custer Training Center, Battle Creek, MI (located in southwest Michigan). Fort Custer?s training facilities are used by the Michigan National Guard and other branches for the armed forces. Training runs from Friday, 19 July 2019 (for Staff Cadets, SCUBA & Air Travelers) or Saturday 20 July 2019 (Intake Day for all other training) until Saturday, 27 July 2019 (Graduation Day). Time your arrival to the base (details under How To Report) NO EARLIER than 0930 (9:30 am) and NO LATER than 1100 (11:00 am) on Saturday, 22JUL18. The base is in the Eastern Time zone. Don't Show up early, don't show up late, please.
Travel Notes: Must fly into DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT (Romulus, MI). This is the only airport that we provide transportation to and from. Flight should arrive after 0900 (9:00 am) and before 1500 (3:00 pm) on Friday, 19 July 2019. Departure is after 1430 (2:30 pm) on Saturday, 27 July 2019.
