Event Description: SCUBA Training is designed to qualify you as either OPEN WATER DIVER? In addition to certification, you will develop strong individual and team skills as you progress through the training with your shipmates. Passing the PRT and Swim Qualification is required
Event Notes: COURSE STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS: Discipline and professionalism will be expected of each Cadet and Officer involved with this command. The training pace will be rapid and a certain physical and mental standard will be required of all participants. SCUBA Training will test the participant?s honor, courage, and commitment. Participants must be both physically and mentally prepared for the training. They will be expected to display attention to detail, pride, teamwork, and professionalism at all times. Come prepared to work hard and play hard! This training is a local training. Pick up and drop off at Los Alamitos Joint Reserve Base located at 11200 Lexington Dr., Los Alamitos, CA 90720 on Sunday, March 24 and Monday, March 25 at 0900. Cadets need to eat a big breakfast before arrival and pack a lunch for those 2 days. Pick up will be at the same location at 1600. Wednesday morning drop off at Corona Del Mar Beach located at Iris Street & Ocean Blvd, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625. Cadets will need to eat a big breakfast and pack a lunch. Cadets will board the Cee Ray Dive Boat Tuesday evening and we will depart for Catalina Island at 0600 Wednesday morning and return back to Long Beach on Friday evening. Parents can pick up their cadets at 1800 at 555 Pico Ave, Long Beach CA 90802.
Lodging Notes: Optional berthing is available for $37/night in addition to training fee; this is NOT a requirement for participation. Berthing Tuesday PM through the end of training is provided by the dive boat. Those not berthing at Los Alamitos JFTB will report according to training schedule provided.
Travel Notes: Commercial travelers should fly in on Saturday, March 23rd to LAX Airport. A pick-up by staff will occur at 1900 so please plan accordingly -- arrange your flight for a "later-in-the-day" arrival. Departures should be scheduled for March 28th AFTER 2000 (please contact COTC if this is a challenge)
